LVMH has now confirmed the rumours, stating Marc Jacobs is leaving Louis Vuitton. In the future, Jacobs will focus on his own label, his namesake line in New York, and leaves LV after 16 years. Only 3 days ago, on Wednesday, Jacobs presented his last show for the High Fashion Label, which is highly characterized by the high fashion designer, where he definitely leaves a big void. Same as his first fashion collection for Louis Vuitton, his last one was also held in black.

The show was a wonderful romp through Jacob’s history at Vuitton – with a collection ranging from exclusive looks for the evening to American sportswear outfits. At the end of the show, the editor of Vogue, Anna Wintour led a standing ovation, quickly joined by the complete American press as well as all other show guests. Such event is extremely rare at fashion shows, making it even more remarkable.

Vuitton announced last week, that the label had hired Darren Spaziani, director of accessories at Proenza Schouler in NY, to create and develop a top, high-quality collection of accessories. He has also worked in collaboration with Jacobs at Vuitton before. In addition, it is said that Nicolas Ghesquière, who is known for his work for Balenciaga, where he already made experiences with undertaking the duty of being chef designer of a big, established fashion label, is open to debate to become Jacob’s successor. Retailers and editors adopted such announcements after the show very positive.
